What to have ready
You don't need anything to call. If you have them handy, a photo of the tree, what kind it is (or that you think it's an ash), roughly how tall, what it's near (the house, a fence, power lines), and any letter you got from the City will help us give you a faster, closer estimate.
What happens next
We set a time for an estimator to come out, usually within a day or two. They look at the tree, tell you whether it can be pruned or treated or should come down, check the timing rules if it's an ash, and leave an itemized written price good for 30 days.
